Katherine Heigl is open about being raised within "a White bubble." She also explains how that realization has affected the parenting style of her adopted children that are multiracial. In an interview, she said recently that, in terms of skin color, it doesn't really matter. After speaking with her sister who is adopted in South Korea she realized just how differently society treats people of different races. Meg was asked if her treatment was different in the times they went out with their parents and then when they went alone. Meg replied, "Oh yeah, always!" Heigl addressed Parents about how she realized the naivety of her actions. According to the actor she became angered. She wanted to channel this energy into aiding her adopted daughters. Heigl, who has been married to Josh Kelley for 13 years they have a son Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr. They adopted Nancy Leigh from South Korea aged 12 in 2009, and then Adalaide aged 8 who is now older and was Black as of 2012.
